Conveyor belts for copper mining

High-tension ST steel cable belts, flame retardant and rip-stop for open-pit and underground copper operations in Chile, Peru and the rest of Latin America.

Copper mines operate with long-distance conveyors, high working tensions and extremely abrasive materials. Copper ore with quartz and pyrite can destroy a conventional belt within weeks. Underground operations add the requirement for certified flame retardant belts.

At NFP Industrial we represent Zhejiang Fuda Rubber Co., Ltd., a reference supplier of belts for copper mining in Chile, Peru and Argentina, with international certifications and supply capacity for large-scale projects.

ST (steel cable) belts for copper mining

The Fuda ST range covers from ST630 to ST5400 N/mm, with steel cables of 3.0 to 11.3 mm diameter and widths of 800 to 2400 mm. Manufactured to DIN, ISO, RMA, CSA and AS standards.

Special properties for copper mining

Flame retardant

Mandatory in all underground copper operations. Certifications: MSHA (USA), DIN-EN-14973 (Europe), CSA-M422-12 (Canada), AS4606 (Australia) and JIS-K-6324 (Japan).

Rip-stop

Transverse breakers of polyester, nylon or steel integrated into the carcass to stop the propagation of longitudinal tears caused by rock fragments with sharp edges.

Integrated integrity sensor

Induction loops vulcanised every 50–150 metres. When an object penetrates the belt and cuts the loop, the control system stops the conveyor automatically, preventing damage propagation and minimising downtime.

Target markets for copper

  • Chile: Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimbo regions — world's leading copper producers
  • Peru: Arequipa (Cerro Verde), Cajamarca, Ancash — second largest world producer
  • Argentina: San Juan, Catamarca — expanding copper projects
